A word about COMPATIBILITYFor the best of my knowledge there are no other PostSript or TrueType fonts for the Mac which include the "brèves." The word processor WordPerfect allows you to make macros for the creation of special characters (basically you can place any accent of any given font on top or underneath any character included in the same or any other font); however, with capital letters (O, U) the results are less than satisfying: these macros then have a funny influence on the size and placement of footnote marks in the body text, etc. Aside from this, you cannot convert texts with these macros into any other formats (such as MS Word).
Some PC Windows fonts place these special characters beyond the ASCII range. This means that they will simply disappear if a text (file) for which these fonts have been used is opened on a computer where these fonts are not installed. I have therefore exchanged certain seldomly used (except in Spanish) ASCII characters with these seven special characters (see chart); if you send a copy of your text file (in whatever program/format you created it) to a colleague or a publisher who has other means of creating the brèves and macrons, and who has no Brève Font installed on his machine, the brève characters will automatically be exchanged with the "original" ASCII characters (as indicated in the chart). Your colleague or publisher who is not using the "Brève Fonts" can now easily exchange these characters with any other substitutions (e.g. "ô").
